With school getting back in session soon I can’t help but worry about my oldest daughter and the problems she had for years with one girl and her group of friends. My daughter was bullied for 4 full years until I finally said, “I am done with this like it or not I am going to the school!” She begged me not to she was embarrassed and felt it would make it worse. Well she was wrong, it didn’t make it worse it gave her some relief for me to stand up for her and make the school accountable to stop the bullying. Finally I see some confidence coming back to my daughter and she has gotten her drivers license and become quite independent. Her confidence has risen greatly. I am very proud of her!
I know most of us don’t want to hear that bullies are human. I fully understand why we don’t want to hear it, my daughter was bullying for years until I involved the school and took control. Bullies tend to be people with no empathy for others and they need to be taught empathy. The problem is getting parents to help and admit the issue.
I came across this website and blog post tonight on twitter and I feel you ALL need to read this post. She talks about how bullies are human and what we can do to help them to learn empathy and stop the bullying of others.
There are several good links within her article and I am asking you click the link below and read this post about bullies:

Why This Is Important
I would like to bring to your attention an incident that took place at Gray’s Creek Middle School on October 17, 2011.
My son, Dawson Gibbs was assaulted in his gym class by his teacher, Mrs Dawn A Hoyt. Apparently there was a kickball game in progress and my son was in line to kick the ball, Mrs Hoyt stated that she thought Dawson had already kicked and instructed him to move to the back of the line. Dawson either did not hear the guidance, which I believe to be the case as his hearing is sub-par, or he ignored her. Mrs Hoyt then approached Dawson and gave the instruction again in which case he complied.
I came across this video I believe on twitter. I am impressed by it and the message.
My daughter was bullied for more than 4 years, until I went to the school and reported it and kept going back to report it! The damage has been done and it was so bad that she would come out of school crying. Her self esteem is non-existent which started when the bullying began.
