What gives me hope; my children and knowing we are in control of our destiny! Being able to choose happiness no matter what is going on in your life.

The rays of happiness, like those of light, are colorless when unbroken.
~Henry W. Longfellow

Knowing yourself is the beginning of all wisdom.

Your real influence is measured by your treatment of yourself.

Shauna, what gives me measureless HOPE, is the following.

~A track record that says I can not only survive incredibly painful experiences, but learn from them and grow.

~Evidence that reminds me that nothing lasts forever.

~A heart that has learned to be open to accepting gentle gifts, and closed to those who would do harm.

~A life lived fully in the present, mindful of the past, and ridiculously optimistic about the future.

~Hours and days and months and years, back-to-back, that together prove to me that I don’t have to be controlled by my past or by others’ expectations or limitations.

~Finally, the indescribable joy of reaching a hand out to someone else who is lost in the darkness and cannot find the light. There is something priceless about helping someone find their way up.

YOU, right now, have exactly what you need to be exactly who you were meant to be. What an amazing thing!

what gives me hope is when i pray and nothing seems to be working, then all of a sudden, just like a seed that is planted into the soil, something little starts budding up…and before long it is noticeable ..prayer and faith in Jesus Christ to answer and hear my prayers because He loves me and wants to bless me with more than I ever could imagine…for instance over the last 7 years i have lost 152lbs…now here in Canada our health care will pay for me to have not only a tummy tuck but a breast reduction…normally that procedure would cost over $20,000. and I would have no hope to look normal again…now i get a second chance, GOD is good…

Wow that is so great!! Not only the 152 lbs lost but the ability to have the second chance fully!! Thank you for sharing with me.. I have always had a difficult time with faith… idk why! It is inspiring to hear from you about your faith!! Thank you!!

As strange as this sounds, one of things that gives me hope that I am going to make it through the day is the fact that I know I have my little pot of pills to take as soon as I get up. I know that within an hour of taking them.. I am pretty much assured that my day won’t get much worse.

I hate the fact that I am reliant on medication and I so wish I didn’t have to take them, but I know that the alternative without them is a million times worse that with them.

    Oh yeah… and then there’s Coffee… but that’s a given. :o)

Thank you Paul for your comment about Hope.. I can certainly relate to the ‘Pot of Pills’.. They are what keeps us going daily.. oh and coffee of course.. lol Love your sense of humor, its a great thing! I am thankful for my pot of pills as well, they are what allows me to HOPE for the future.. Thanks again :)

Shauna, Different things give me hope at different times, and sometimes I’m hard pressed to find any hope! Watching children at play gives me hope.Today, I read this on twitter via @brannonphoto and found it hopeful: “Had the most awesome session with a pair of 90 something lovebirds today. Great stories, great fun, love all around. Happy day. :)” Sometimes when I’m feeling hopeless, it’s because I’m focusing too much on what’s wrong with me and the world, and living too much in the future- predicting horrible outcomes, so it helps me to try to come back to the present, and focus on any little thing that is good or going right, and tell myself some nice things about myself and other people.Reading “The Work” by Byron Katie can help me shake me out off hopeless thoughts and feelings. When I’m struggling, reminding myself that “I’ve been here before and lived through it to come out on the other side stronger, healthier, and wiser, gives me hope too. I hope you have some better days soon. <3
